Does ProfilEd replace our LMS?
No. The LMS can remain the institution's course-delivery and record system. ProfilEd adds simulation practice and reasoning evidence around selected learning moments.
ProfilEd for higher education
Give learners repeated practice in consequential decisions, and give faculty and programme teams evidence of how their reasoning changes.
Built for: Academic leaders, Programme directors, Faculty, Learning design teams, Career services leaders
No. The LMS can remain the institution's course-delivery and record system. ProfilEd adds simulation practice and reasoning evidence around selected learning moments.
Choose one moment where learners need to make a judgement, explain it, handle challenge, and revise. A capstone case, placement-readiness pathway, professional interview, or selected course outcome can provide a useful boundary.
Depending on the activity, the record can include choices, explanations, follow-up responses, revisions, reflections, transcripts, and links to the learner's Curriculum Graph.
Yes. Programme teams should define the relevant outcomes and decide how ProfilEd evidence contributes to coaching, formative assessment, or programme review.
No. ProfilEd creates practice evidence for human review. Institutions retain responsibility for assessment decisions, standards, and any claim of competence.
Begin with a bounded cohort and one capability workflow. Define the learning purpose, evidence, reviewer roles, privacy expectations, and decision criteria before expanding.
The institutional gap
Higher education teams already have systems for curriculum delivery, assessment, attendance, and completion. The harder problem appears when a learner must interpret an ambiguous situation, choose a course of action, explain the trade-offs, respond to challenge, and revise. Those moments reveal judgement, but they are difficult to practise frequently and difficult to inspect at programme scale.
ProfilEd gives institutions a practice layer for those moments. Learners work through simulations, cases, Socratic interviews, Story Quests, and guided study sessions. Their choices, explanations, revisions, and reflections become material for feedback. Faculty retain control of learning outcomes and review; programme teams gain a clearer view of where learners repeatedly struggle.
What changes
ProfilEd complements the LMS, assessment, and faculty review. It does not replace them.
Useful for recording participation and evaluated output, but often too compressed to explain the learner's reasoning process.
Capture what the learner chose, why they chose it, how they handled challenge, and what changed after feedback.
Faculty see a final submission after much of the thinking has already happened.
Learners rehearse difficult moments before the graded, clinical, placement, or workplace event.
The capability workflow
Choose the capability and the consequential moment in which it should become visible.
Give learners a realistic situation with incomplete information, constraints, and follow-up questions.
Inspect the response, rationale, revision, and reflection rather than relying on a single score.
Use recurring gaps to adjust coaching, practice design, and the next learner action.
Programme outcomes, accreditation language, role expectations, and faculty-defined standards.
A visible map connecting learner goals and programme outcomes to capabilities and prerequisite relationships.
AI Case Labs, Story Quests, Socratic AI Interviews, Study Sessions, and defence moments.
Reasoning traces, revisions, reflections, transcripts, and next-practice recommendations available for human review.
Stakeholder outcomes
Rehearse interviews, cases, client conversations, clinical judgement, and other professional moments in a safer setting.
Use explanations, questions, revisions, and reflections to give feedback that reaches beyond the final answer.
Review patterns across selected activities to decide where curriculum or learner support needs attention.
Help learners explain experience, defend claims, and prepare for follow-up questions with more specificity.
Where it fits
Let learners make a recommendation, face a changing constraint, and defend the reasoning behind it.
Practise how evidence, risk, communication, and escalation shape a decision without representing the simulation as clinical certification.
Connect project choices and revisions to the capabilities a programme expects learners to demonstrate.
Move from polished claims to examples a learner can explain, defend, and improve.
Reviewable outputs
The option selected and the constraints the learner considered.
The explanation, evidence, assumptions, and trade-offs expressed during practice.
What changed when the learner received new information or challenge.
The learner's own account of what they would retain, change, or practise next.
Institutions decide which activities matter, how evidence is interpreted, and what additional assessment or human judgement is required. ProfilEd should be evaluated in the context of the programme where it is used.
A practical pilot
Choose one course, cohort, capstone, placement pathway, or career-readiness workflow.
Agree on the decision, capability, evidence, and faculty review criteria that matter.
Give learners repeated practice and collect feedback from learners and reviewers.
Review participation, evidence quality, recurring gaps, operating effort, and learner response before expanding.
Operations
Owners: programme sponsor + Career Services or faculty reviewer + ProfilEd kickoff. Inputs: one capability, named cohort, reviewer, success question, access list. Outputs: Curriculum Graph goal live; practice modes on; sample Shared Footprints opened. Success: agreed sample completed at least one real sitting; reviewer can coach from a footprint without a vendor in the room; keep / change / stop called. Stopping at day 21 is a valid institutional decision.
Owners: reviewer + optional learning-innovation ops; IT only if SSO/LTI is in scope. Inputs: keep decision; clarified permissions; faculty load rules (sample, don’t drown). Outputs: repeatable assignment pattern; short facilitator notes; stack-fit checklist started. Success: second cohort or second capability without re-scoping chaos; support tickets trending down; no claim creep into “certified competence.”
Owners: sponsor + procurement/IT as needed. Inputs: evidence from sittings; reviewer time log; data-brief questions; HECVAT on request if counsel requires it. Outputs: expand / hold / exit memo; if expand—modes, roster approach, contract path. Success: written scope for next term; legal URLs reviewed; consumer Gem packaging not confused with institutional pilots.
Roles
Completes sittings and owns what enters a Shared Footprint.
Opens attempts and gaps; coaches between appointments.
Keeps the one-capability rule; calls keep / change / stop.
Engaged when SSO, LTI, or roster leave the pilot sandbox—not day-one theatre.
Operating note
Plan a focused pilot at /campaigns/pilot — one capability × one cohort × one reviewer.
Book a readiness call via /contact with capability, cohort size, and who reviews.
Scale the calendar to your term; the first decision gate stays early (14–21 days inside the first month). Humans interpret Shared Footprints—including gaps.
Explore the system
Connect outcomes, capabilities, practice, and evidence.
Build repeated decision and defence practice into a programme.
Practise complex decisions under changing constraints.
