For universities

For institutions that need real oral reasoning, not just polished submissions.

ProfilEd supports oral assessment at cohort scale and gives you learning-outcome evidence drawn from students’ own spoken reasoning.

Written work stopped carrying the signal it was built to carry.

The cause isn’t student dishonesty. Generative AI has made a polished, well-argued submission nearly free to produce.

AI-use policies and detection tools both act after the fact. Changing what counts as evidence of understanding is the response that holds up, and that’s where ProfilEd fits.

Faculty and assessment

An oral defense after any submission.

After an essay, a case analysis or a problem set, students spend five minutes defending it out loud. The session is seeded with the assignment, and the follow-up questions go after the reasoning behind it.

A student who understands the work can do this without preparing. A student who submitted work they don’t understand can’t.

Faculty see the thinking behind the answer, not just the answer.

What reviewers read for in a session

  1. Role framingHow the student positioned themselves in the problem.
  2. Evidence usedWhich facts they reached for, and in what order.
  3. Decision statedThe call itself, in their own words, unprepared.
  4. Response to the challengeWhat happened when the call was pushed back on.
  5. RevisionWhether they updated their position, and why.
  6. ReflectionTheir own read on where the reasoning held and where it broke.

Business schools

Case defense between classes.

A student defends the recommendation from today’s case. The session shifts the context, adds a constraint the case didn’t include, and checks whether the reasoning still holds when the ground moves.

It runs alongside case teaching. Every student gets the cold call that a 90-minute class can only give a few.

Career services

Interview practice for the whole cohort, between one-on-ones.

Students practice the interview that follows up: the case that changes halfway, the question behind the question. Five minutes at a time, with no scheduling.

Advisers keep their hours for narrative strategy and offer negotiation, the work that needs a person.

Answers that hold go on the student’s private Shared Footprint. They decide who sees it.

Assessment and accreditation

Evidence you can bring to accreditation reviews.

Over a semester, each session adds to a record of how students frame a problem, defend a decision and respond when it’s challenged. That supports evidence you can bring to accreditation reviews, without scheduling an oral exam for every student.

Session data export can be written into your institutional agreement, so your assessment team can use it in its own reporting.

India

For Indian universities, B-schools and placement cells.

Placement season leaves little time for one-on-one prep. Send the batch one link, and students practice the interview that follows up in the weeks before the drive.

Faculty can run case and viva defense from the same setup. We quote Indian institutions in INR and cover DPDP requirements during scoping.

How a pilot runs

One course or one cohort, for eight weeks.

  1. Week 0

    We configure your link.

Your institution, program and opening scenario go into one URL, in less than a business day.

  2. Week 1

    Students start.

Post the link in the syllabus, the LMS, an email or a QR code. No per-student onboarding.

  3. Week 4

We review early sessions with you.

A 30-minute call, and changes to the scenario if it needs them.

  4. Week 8

    You get the end-of-pilot report.

Completion, reasoning patterns and faculty feedback, ready for your own evaluation.

  • A program leadA faculty member, career director or placement officer who owns it.
  • Fifteen or more studentsOne course, one intake or one placement batch.
  • No IT projectNo LMS connector, no passwords to reset. LMS and SSO are scoped in a full agreement.

Pilots are a fixed fee based on cohort size, credited toward your first year if you continue. US institutions are quoted in USD and Indian institutions in INR. See institutional pricing

We cover data handling and consent during scoping, including FERPA for US institutions and DPDP for Indian ones.

The research behind this

Written work no longer proves understanding. ProfilEd’s evidence is spoken, live and built over weeks. See the research, and how an 8-week pilot is measured.

Why it works How ProfilEd thinks

Start with one course.

Tell us the course or cohort, its size and what you want students to defend. We’ll reply with a one-page pilot scope.

Does it replace our assessments?
No. It sits next to the written work and shows the reasoning behind it.
Do students need passwords?
No. They start from the link with their first name. You can also assign seats by email from the cohort admin.
Can I try it first?
Yes. Take the free check-in yourself. No account needed.
